#18 Buda: Beautiful Spring

Wow, this week was good, real good. I love Easter time, honestly more than I like Christmas, both are great, but I think Easter is better. We had a wonderful sacrament meeting this past Sunday. Because of people traveling for the holiday, I got to translate the first half of sacrament meeting, and all of Sunday school, we also sang hymns to an acoustic guitar accompaniment, but despite it all it was a very spiritual experience.

This week our work was slower, a lot of people gone for the holiday, or dropped us after conference, but it gave us the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather while streeting and tracting.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we were with the zone leaders in Dunaújváros. Elder Hudson and I found some new investigators, met with a returning member and had some time to do some impromptu furniture moving. We were going to have a lesson with someone, but she cancelled, but it turned out that there were some guys moving furniture up 5 flights of stairs, and our member present knew one of them, so we spent some time moving furniture, it was really good, and we invited to them to come to church.

Saturday we had Ricsi's baptism, it was a good wrap up to the week. Beautiful music, ordinances and spirit. How blessed we are to be in Hungary.

This year commemorates the approximate 1985 anniversary of Christ resurrection, in 15 years it will be 2000. This scripture passage has always been one of my favorites. The two great steps forward of humanity, 1. The Fall of Adam and Eve, and 2. The atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of these steps, through our participation in the Gospel of Christ and the Ordinances, our salvation is possible.

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power." --1 Corinthians 15:20-24. Like Jacob, I just want to proclaim "O how great the goodness of our God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful monster" -- 2 N 9:10. Easter is great, because it is a celebration of victory, the ultimate triumph of our God.

Morgan elder.
