#1 Debrecen: I Don't Want to Grow Up!

Well in this weeks news:

Two elders moved all of their worldly possessions to Debrecen. I'm excited to be here in Debrecen, its a beautiful city. I'm loving it here in Debrecen. The branch is small, but we think it has potential, we have a small handful of investigators, an upcoming baptism, and an awesome senior couple, I think its going to be a great transfer. The weather is chilly and it feels like fall. My birthday is in a week and I'm not ready to be a score old. I wish I could just play with Lego's all day. JK!! Yesterday would have been p-day but we had to travel to Budapest and then go to a dental appointment for Elder Surdu, and then travel back, so we were on a train for 6 hours yesterday. It wasn't that bad, it just took all day, but luckily today we still get to email and go grocery shopping.

Wednesday we moved here to Debrecen. On Thursday we met with Andrea and the Branch President to discuss the upcoming baptism. We decided it would be better to move it to Saturday the 13th so that it can be a wonderful experience for everyone and especially Andrea. She is very much looking forward to it. We talked about the baptismal program and got everything squared away. We also worked on contacting our other investigators, and hopefully we will be able to meet with some of them this week. Last night while tracting we talked with this thirty-something mother about the “THE FAMILYL: A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD.” She said that it was interesting and that especially her 11 year old is interested in faith. She said that we could set up this week to meet and talk about faith and families, it was wonderful and really pumped us up. I look forward to see how it will turn out.

On Sunday there were only 17 at church. It's sad to see so few members but they seem to be very solid, so thats a good start. We have made a goal to try to get that number up to 25, so we are going to have to coordinate with the branch president to know who to start with.

In My Scripture Study:

This week's spiritual thought comes from Jacob chapter 5.

“For behold, thus saith the Lord, I will liken thee, O house of Israel, like unto a tame olive tree, which a man took and nourished in his vineyard; and it grew, and waxed old, and began to decay.”

Elder Surdu and I read through this chapter and discussed what we can do to apply it's principals to missionary work at large but also specifically our branch in Debrecen. Verses 70-71 especially stood out to us:

“And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard sent his servant; and the servant went and did as the Lord had commanded him, and brought other servants; and they were few. And the Lord of the vineyard said unto them: Go to, and labor in the vineyard, with your might. For behold, this is the last time that I shall nourish my vineyard; for the end is nigh at hand, and the season speedily cometh; and if ye labor with your might with me ye shall have joy in the fruit which I shall lay up unto myself against the time which will soon come.”

I think that as missionaries we are like the other servants that are called to do the work, we are few. We also discussed how we can figuratively prune, graft and nurture the branches and roots of our branch. We concluded that we don't know how to do everything, but we do have a lot of laboring to do. But like it says, we have to be exact in following the commandments of the lord of the vineyard.

Have a good week!

Sok Szeretettel, Morgan elder.
