#8 MTC: Last Email From the MTC

This was a good week. On Friday, we got our flight plans! So we will leave the MTC at about 10 am on the 30th, and then driving to Salt Lake City. We will board the airplane at 3 pm and fly for 10 hours to Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. We will arrive at 8 am local time, and then after a 2 hour layover we will have a 2 hour flight to Budapest, and then real mission life will start.

In other news, we had Matt Holland come speak to us Sunday night, he is the son of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland (An apostle) and he is the president of UVU, so that's pretty cool. Last week was good because we had a lot of lessons with our "investigators" where we mostly taught about the Restoration, the Gospel of Christ, and the Plan of Salvation. All the lessons went really well, and Udy Elder and I were able to speak, and answer questions pretty much with out help from notes.

In the MTC you learn a whole bunch of Hungarian Grammar, and how to talk in depth about a very specific set of topics. As for conversational language, or other functional Hungarian, I'll have to wait to learn that. I can't necessarily survive in Hungarian, but I can teach a mean lesson about the doctrine of Christ! lol

Yesterday we had the privilege of having Elder Gary E. Stevenson (An apostle) come talk to us. He spoke about the divine organization of the church and about Preach My Gospel and Christ like attributes. He specifically focused on humility, obedience, diligence, and virtue. When a prophet tells you those qualities are very important, then it's best to figure out why. I'll be studying those for a while. It was a really good devotional. We usually get a visit from an apostle every 2 or 3 weeks. Since I've been here I have seen: Elder Oaks, Elder Cook, President Eyring, Elder Christofferson, and Elder Stevenson.

Monday and Tuesday we have this class called "In Field Orientation," which is basically where they really quick teach you all the non-doctrinal or language things you need to use for missionary work before you leave the MTC. Working with members, contacting, planning, and stuff like that.

Now that I'm an ancient, or an ősi, at the MTC. Here are my 5 principals to live by:

1. Chocolate Milk, good; Orange Juice: Bad.
2. 4 square is the game of all games.
3. Choir is true happiness because Brother Eggett tells good stories.
4. Be patient with yourself, don't expect your self to be amazing at the language, especially Hungarian, just do your best, its pretty much impossible it to learn by yourself, but don't worry because God is there to help you.
5. I know that If You pray for heavenly father to change your desires, he will. it is amazing.

Next time you all hear from me I'll be in central Europe! pretty crazy!

P.S. Sister Dalziels mom made us district t-shirts. "Phantom Dragon Rising" is a homage to our teacher Elder Haws's email address and his personality in general, plus a kind of harry potter reference. We also have nick names.
