#3 Pest II: CRAZY BUSY!!
This last week was a full one. Our Book of Mormon Zone challenge has been going well and I hope it has been working to inspire and uplift the missionaries, I know personally that I have learned so much, and I feel my testimony of the Book of Mormon strengthening.
On Monday I had splits with Elder Spencer (Elder Martin's companion), an AP (an assistant to the President) born and raised in Boise Idaho, came to his mission via North Carolina and whose parents have now moved to Utah. Elder Spencer loves snow skiing and boating. He is serving in Buda, which is the other side of the river. It was a good split, the purpose being my training as a zone leader.
This week we found three new investigators, unfortunately they all were unable to make it to the appointments we set up with them, but hopefully this week we will be able to meet with them again. We had a really great meeting with our Vietnamese investigator, we gave her a Book of Mormon in Vietnamese, and she was so excited. It’s harder to teach her because of her more limited Hungarian, but she really like what we shared with her out of the Book of Mormon. We had two of our investigators at church this week, one of which is a woman named Moni. She loved fast and testimony meeting. We followed up with her on her Book of Mormon reading and she has already read the introduction through 1 Nephi chapter 3. We gave her one of the Book of Mormon challenge book marks and she is excited to use it. She asked if all of those questions really have answers in the Book of Mormon, we said yes!
We also met with a recent convert family, a mother and a daughter named Anikó and Nelli. We talked about the importance of obedience to the commandments and the importance of a Living prophet. We challenged them to do the Book of Mormon challenge, and also gave them a copy of the youth broadcast from President Nelson last June. We met with a less active family named the Büdőék, and talked about the spiritual power of the Book of Mormon. On Saturday we gave service to a member family, they moved houses. It was wonderful. This next week we will be meeting with some more families to get them working on the Book of Mormon challenge!
This week while doing the Book of Mormon challenge I read out of Alma 34. It was incredible; I had forgotten that this was even in the Book of Mormon:
"And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.
"And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance.
"And thus mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles them in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice; therefore only unto him that has faith unto repentance is brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption.
I was thinking a lot about the „arms of safety” part. I think it means lots of things but first it’s that when we apply the atonement into our lives it literally protects us from temptation and spiritual sickness. We receive grace which is enabling power from the atonement when we repent of our sins and show our faith in Jesus Christ. It is that safety that allows us to become more than we are.
