#4 Nyíregyháza: Debrecen is a Cool City
This week sort of flew by. The miracle of this week was for sure our lesson with Zoltán. He became a new investigator last week, but this week we had our first real lesson with him. We did a lot of good and taught him about the Book of Mormon and how to get a testimony of spiritual things. He is a very religious man and he said that he is a real truth seeker and wants to know if what we have is true. At the end of the lesson he was asking us about how to repent because he said that it’s hard to learn about it in the bible. We told him that he will find answers to his questions, as he reads the Book of Mormon, prays, meets with us and comes to church. I hope tomorrow’s lesson goes well.
A lot of our investigator lessons fell through this week, so we did a lot of look ups and meeting with members. We shared messages about how we can use the blessings of the gospel in our lives to invite people to partake of the fruits of the gospel. I guess you could say it was the “come and see” approach. We also helped a few members with getting started on family history and preparing to take names to the temple. We met with our recent convert Tibór, and talked about preparing to go to the temple. He has the Melchizedek priesthood, and is planning on going to go to the temple in 6 months. We gave him a temple prep pamphlet. It went well.
In district meeting we focused on how we can better use the Book of Mormon as a tool in proselyting, specifically how we can focus on the Book of Mormon in our finding efforts and use it to address concerns. I don’t know if it went as I planned but in the end I hope it was somewhat helpful. I guess it's part of the learning curve.
We also had a split in Debrecen, which is the second largest city in Hungary, it's beautiful. The city is all verily new because most of the old parts were destroyed by the Soviets. They have a large college there. It's about a half hour train ride. The city has trams and is a big city so the area feels like Buda. Debrecen is really nice! I think I'd really like to serve there one day.

Elder Hess was pretty sick with a crazy high fever and a stomach flu, so we helped Elder North get out of the house and took care of Elder Hess. Elder North is from Vernal Utah. He has about 3/4 months of his mission left. Elder North and I streeted people near their apartment and the branch building which is near where they live. There is a nice city park verily near their apartment too. The park was near the college. We found a library box where you can put a book in and people can come and take it and read it, so we put in a Book of Mormon. We did a cool chalk on the sidewalk and we put our phone number on it, like a billboard we hope people will see it and call us.
For P-day today we went to the zoo in Nyíregyháza Zoo which is one of the largest zoos in Europe. It was great!
Love, Morgan Elder.
Belief is the reason we go on a mission. It is the motive for preaching about Christ and sharing/Proclaiming his love. Faith is understanding we are children of God and our Heavenly Father. May this definition of faith bless you in your life. Faith is defined again and because faith has an inherent joy it gives us a solid foundation that we finally have the peace we have been searching for.
ReplyDelete"Many believer's feed themselves on what God hasn't done. When I dwell on what hasn't happened, I create the atmosphere for the spirit of offense to arise and to thrive. When I dwell on what hasn't happened, I legitimize unbelief. I live with a sense of justification, for not believing God.
Faith in the purest sense is the ceasing of resistance. even when there's no physical evidence, when the other evidence is present. Not feeding ourselves on what God hasn't done Faith in it's purest form is the absence of resistance
Heaven is a place where everyone is celebrated, some are more honored but everyone is celebrated. All men and all women shall be judged on the light which they have received. Heaven is a permissible culture. God's nature is eternally permissible. These statements protect us from credit.
Faith in the purest sense is the ceasing of resistance, even when there's no physical evidence, when the other evidence is present. Not feeding ourselves on what God hasn't done. Faith in it's purest form is the absence of resistance. Faith doesn't deny a problems existence, it denies it's influence. He or she was someone whom aridity and desolation never disturbed for he or she had a deeply rooted, and a vigorous faith.
Now we can act as we have always dreamed. Now we can act as we have always been. Now we can step into the light and gather the sunlight instead of blocking out our possibilities. Instead of blocking out our joy. Variety will bloom in/under the sun. We can show off our best, we can enjoy other people's gifts. We can blossom where we stand upon the joy that faith provides us. Upon the joy that faith inherently has, which blossoms the entire field of flowers"
