#7 Kecskemét: A Good Week for Teaching
This week was good. We have been focusing as a companionship to find new people to teach, specifically youth, for the last few weeks and this week we found 3 new investigators (people interested in learning about the gospel) under 20. It is always fun to find new people to teach.
2$ Cotton Candy bigger than my head, so amazing! |
János had his baptismal interview with the Zone leaders on Friday, and he did well. ***Before a person can be baptized into the church there is an interview with them to ask them about basic doctrines and principles they understand and guage whether they have a adequate understanding of what baptism and membership in the church will mean for them. I'm so excited for him and his baptism, he has grown so much in the last two months! it makes me happy to see him happier
This week was very busy with normal missionary stuff but not very eventful when it comes to sickness or travel or weird stuff, therefore, a good week. We served at a Human Rehabilitation center and played memory and Parcheesi with some of the patients there, it was a lot of fun. We then went to go tracking and were able to set up and appointment with a recent convert. While walking through the neighborhood, we found this supper friendly calico cat, and she kept following us and wanting us to pet her. Elder Martin thought it would be a good idea to carry this cat to our new appointment, so he rode for 2 km, with a cat in his arms. Luckily (or maybe it was providence), the cat after realizing our plan, jumped out of his arms at a cross walk. I trust that the cat made it home (if he has a home).
Martin Elder and I are trying to speak only Hungarian for a week, it is hard and frustrating, but I hope it pays off some how.
I finished 3rd Nephi (***Book in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon, like other volumes of ancient scripture, is a compilation of writing from different prophets. There are four books named after prophets named Nephi.) this week, and I love the promises that Christ gives to the house of Israel and the church if we keep the commandments and follow him, he promises that we will be spared from danger, and will prosper in the land. I know we are blessed when we follow his commandments.
This next week is going to be crazy, we will be traveling to szeged for splits and Buda for zone conference, and then all the Christmas stuff. Because of that there will be no email on Christmas day, sad, but its skype day with my family, yay!
Much love Morgan elder.
Excerpts from Elder Martin's Mission Blog:
While we were carolling/tracting there was this super nice cat (very well groomed too) that was just following us forever, and by the time we had to head to an appointment, i might have scooped it up in one hand and biked two kilometers with it... i just couldn't say goodbye! it was probably the most vulnerable point I've ever experienced my entire mission, Morgan elder broke our only Hungarian speaking pact to try to convince me to let it go (though looking back, he was right.. don't worry, we hashed it all out during comp inventory).
Training has been an adventure, fulls of ups and downs. One of Morgan elder's and mine favorite quotes of the transfer has been, "haragszol rám" (are you mad at me?) which is actually a very healthy and direct way of rooting out contention from the start, and without doubt leaves us laughing at whatever was between us.
János Attila is going to be baptised on the 30th! His baptismal interview is this Friday, and we saw him this morning while shopping and he said "I'm going to take my test! I just need to get a cup of coffee and then I'll be ready." WHAAA- I launched into this big reminder about the Word of Wisdom but then it turned out he was joking ... not very funny. lol.

I got some questions regarding food here. It is hardy food. Lots of meat, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, butter, eggs (boiled), pasta, tomatoes mild peppers, cabbage, and lots of paprika, in everything. Last week we had this cabbage soup thing at a members house and i think it was pig snout soup. They also put tejföl, in savory dishes a lot, tejföl is sour cream, but it is thicker.
Much love Morgan elder.
