#8 Debrecen: Not a Passive Gospel

Well, the first week of the new transfer was great! It was sad to see Elder Surdu go back to Canada, but it will be good for him to be home. My new companion Elder Seeley is awesome, it's going to be a great transfer. This weeks MLC (Mission Leadership Meeting) was great. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of plans and ideas to implement.

This week Elder Surdu and I met with Andi. We talked about the part of King Benjamin's address to his people when he says "If you believe all these things see that ye do them." (Mosiah 4:10) We invited her to pray and ponder this week about what is the next step for her, in her faith experiment, and what Heavenly Father wants her to do next. It was really good. This week we found 3 new people to teach. I look forward to meeting with them this coming week. One of them just walked into the church building yesterday after church and asked about what our church was like and how we pray and stuff like that. She is from the Middle East so it will be interesting to meet with her next Thursday. One of our investigators Adam is in Germany right now, but he called us this week to see if we could send him the information about where the nearest church building to him was, unfortunately, he wasn't able to go but it was still awesome that he reached out to us like that.

We also met with Andrea this week (recently baptized member). We talked about faith and how to maintain it in our lives. We shared Alma 32 and talked about what we need to do after the seed is growing. We still need to nurture the tree and the effort we put into our tree comes back to us in the fruit that is produced. I've been thinking about this concept a lot this week, especially in relation to what King Benjamin calls "retaining a remission of our sins." I think the concept is fascinating. It's not just enough to receive a remission of our sins but we must fenntartani (to maintain) or betartani (to keep a hold of) it. We don't live a passive gospel, that hardest part of the gospel of Jesus Christ is not repenting and being baptized, it is continually repenting and striving to keep the commandments forever. It's long and exhausting, but the fruit it produces "is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white, yea, and pure above all that is pure." (Alma 32:42)

With love, Sok Szeretettel és Szerencséssel,

Morgan elder
