#7 Kispest: Buda is Beautiful

It didn't add up in my cerebrals that zone conference would push back p-day, but it did. So happy Tuesday P-day!

This past week was also pretty good. p-day last the 16th we went to this labyrinths underneath Buda castle. The Buda Castle is in a walled part of the city, under it is a labyrinth, which are natural caves that were linked by tunnels that in the medieval times it was used as torture chambers and prisons. During World War II they hid in the tunnels and caves. It was pretty cool. According to the people who commercialize this place, another claim to fame is that Dracula (Vlad the Impaler to his friends) was imprisoned there for a year. It was a nice cool, damp, tuberculosis filled maze. Pretty fun! Elder Gabel on cried twice.

We also walked around Szent Matthias cathedral, and fisherman's bastion, it was cool to go back because the only other time I went was my first night in Hungary. It was a really pretty walk in the spring. I took lots of pictures. There were lots of tourists around, because those are the tourist areas and Budapest is a very popular tourist city. We met this really boisterous guy with a crazy beard and tattoos from Idaho Falls, who wanted to take a picture with us, its nice to be appreciated, it makes you feel famous.

This week we had some good lessons with our investigators. Budai Zoltan who will be having his interview this week. I hope it goes well, because if it does, he will be baptized the day before Mother's day! We also met with Piroska Néni and taught a really good lesson about the Plan of Salvation. She also makes good meat loaf.

We went streeting in Csepel with the sisters this week, it was fun to street by myself. My first transfer I streeted with my trainer, last transfer my companion liked streeting together, and this transfer we have just been running around all over the place so I haven't had a lot of time for that kind of finding, but moral of the story, I like talking to people especially old ladies, but I am really bad at getting people to give me their phone numbers.

We also had dinner with the Swenson's this week, Steve was a missionary here decade or so ago, and his wife Tünde is from Hungary. They have a really cool family.

Yesterday was zone conference, we talked a lot about diligence and more effective study, which helped me realize that I'm bad at studying, but that's the great thing about repentance, I can start better today. One of the things said, was that as missionaries, some of the best answers to prayers come when we receive revelation for others and when we are seeking to help others.

It ties in well with a talk I read from Elder Eyring (https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/henry-b-eyring_gifts-spirit-hard-times/) and he talked about when we desire and pray to have the spirit with us it is vital that we have pure motives, as in wanting it not for selfish reasons but for helping others or doing the will of God. It's not always easy to put what you want aside, but it's necessary to be an instrument of the Lord. Maybe if I get better at that, I'll be able to speak better Hungarian, and convey the spirit better.

I'm glad that you all are doing good and doing fun stuff. Stay safe, work hard. love you all.

Szeretettel, Morgan elder.
